Let us now praise our Alphabet! Ah, we do take it for granted, don't we? That glorious line up of twenty-six letters that form the basis of our daily interpersonal communications and most Lionel Richie songs.

The first "true alphabet" in this sense is believed to be the Greek alphabet, which is a modified form of the Phoenician alphabet. So we can thank this guy:

for the nuts and bolts of our daily interaction and communication. Did you know the last letter added to our alphabet was the letter J? Also, Nic Cage added another letter in 1985 at the end of this recitation of our alphabet.

Accoding to Wikipedia, The history of the alphabet started in ancient Egypt. By the 27th century BC Egyptian writing had a set of some 24 hieroglyphs which are called uniliterals to represent syllables that begin with a single consonant of their language, plus a vowel (or no vowel) to be supplied by the native speaker.

Which brings us, of course, to the Three Stooges:

Let's now express our love for our Alphabet!

So there you go. Remember the next time someone come and try to take your Alphabet, you say, 'YOU CAN TAKE MY THE BASIC ORDERING OF THE LATIN ALPHABET WHICH IS DERIVED FROM THE NORTHWEST SEMITIC ABGAD ORDER FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!

Or whatever.
